Sigihl – Trauermärsche (And a tango Upon The World’s Grave)

Releasedate: ; Label: Arachnophobia Records
By: Sabine van Gameren

Sigihl is a project from Poland that started in 2012. It contains all evil, from Sludge/Doom to Black Metal and beyond. A very first release came out last year, to be spread further this year. “Trauermärsche (And a tango Upon The World’s Grave)” is available now.

Sigihl is an intense experience of dark and evil. And yet there are a variety of beautiful elements in this release which make your mind question its sense. Are you liking it for the beauty, the way it is composed or maybe the fact that it has a certain tranquillity in it? Or do you like this for its icy cold atmosphere, the doom that’s haunting you, the depth in sound or is it that saxophone that drags you in. On a more known name it is Shining (nor) that made the saxophone more upfront in the darker sides of metal, as well as Ihsahn who embraced it, but Sigihl takes this experience to the next level. It teases you, annoy you and then makes you hooked because you listen to the little tweeks in the sound, waiting for it to be over and when it is over begging it to come back.

Damn you little teaser! It’s getting summer but now all I want is some Sigihl darkness. But with only one release, I can only hope this disc isn’t ruined by its numerous playtimes before a new one sees light.
