Two Spanish Stoner/Doom bands teamed up to release a split.
Hela is responsible for the first part of the split. The band has added two tracks that are listening over 20 minutes of music. The formation is around since 2012 and has released a debut full length a year later. They come in quite heavy with the instrumental part, but then when the vocals come in you may have to swallow a bit. Not the most easy one to added to this music and certainly not a love at first sight. Mireia has quite a light voice and at first hides in the background. It does not really make her shine. And maybe the band does not really need them to make an impression as the instrumental part is more than enough to keep you listening.
The second part is for Lodo. There is not really much known of them, they seem to dwell in the mystery perhaps. Their music is a tad bit heavier than Hela. More towards sludge. They are making the sound comprehensive and drag you forth with interesting playfields full of detail where you would often expect it to be teasingly slow. An interesting approach from these guys.
Together the two bands have created an interesting split. Especially Lodo sparks our interest and perhaps we’ll get to know more of them soon.
