American Rock formation Royal Thunder formed in 2004. Quite recently the band added a new guitarist, Will Fiore, to their line up . In 2012 the band came with a debut full length album and this year the band is ready for the release of their new album called “Crooked Doors”.
“Crooked Doors” is a release that gives you the best of 70’s brought in a modern edition. The band has an adventurous mind and allow themselves to take the time to float off when they feel like. Let the guitars go a bit more into depth, let the sound be a bit more catchy sometimes. And with this playfulness comes the fact that the lyrics are relatively straightforward.
A little remark is that sometimes the songs are perhaps feeling a bit too long and the whole album could easily give you the idea of being twice as long as it is which maybe is a bit too much at once.
The key of there is in variation. The songs have a strong link to each other and although you could listen them individually it always comes down to the fact you want to others to complete the story.
Could that be a pro, yes for the ones who are totally into it, this will be an element that makes you love the release even more, but it is a bit overwhelming as well.
Regardless these points you could really not find much against this release. The band shows good quality and delivered an album that we will remember.
