Iris Divine is a band from USA making Progressive Metal. Their album “Karma Sown” has been released earlier but is now ready to spread world wide.
Listening to their album I think they could be put into the direction of Fates Warning. The guys have a similar mindset as it seems. The song structures are complex but never closed down in such a way that it becomes inaccessible to those seeking a lighter from of Prog. An interesting mix of both sides. The spotlight shifts a bit within the band sometimes it are the riffs that will make an impression, but then it could also be the vocals that will draw most attention. In general the guys have created a nice playfield but must be careful not to overdo it in time and remain that balance in there. What brings a funny touch to it all is that groove being vibrantly implemented in their sound, giving the whole a bit more character.
Steady release of Iris Divine, it’s one of those that make sense to be brought out worldwide and is there to find its way to the progressive fans through Europe also. Maybe we’ll see the guys playing a show in future, we are curious enough after listening this release.
