German Hard Rock trio Cunning Mantrap is quite a young formation. Theband formed in 2013 and this year they come with a full length album already. “Dull Days” got released recently and is available now.
A straight Rock band they are, Cunning Mantrap. Not too much to twist about. Not too much new, not really something different, but brought to you with a decent conviction. They give the album a rather strange start, as if you are in the middle or the end of a song. A strange intro, but then we get that Rock and Roll starting and since all sounds quite familiar you easily get the vibe. Vocally perhaps not the best that’s out there. Maybe when they give the whole more depth in articulation the band the songs would become larger. Yet, the band has some catchy refrains. ‘want some, get some’ they tell you. Some solo’s are thrown in and perhaps they are not the wildest or most original but yet pleasant enough to pick it up.
Ok, altogether “Dull Days” will maybe not make it to album of the year here on Tempelores, but the band shows with the album to have a basis to grow from. Taken from their heroes here and there, they can expand far from that. Skill wise not all members are one line yet, but the band has the time to grow towards eachother.
