Does Lenny Kravitz really needs an introduction? We haven’t heard any of his hits in the past years may as well have been living in a cave in nowhereland. This year Lenny comes with album number 10 on the list. It’s called: “Strut” and is out now.
We know Lenny Kravitz has always been very diverse with his music. Yet it is not that hard to recognize a stereotypical Lenny Kravitz song. On “Strut” you will find a whole bunch of them. Starting off with the track “Sex” the tone is set. A quite calm poprock song you would say but spoken from the heart. We continue with “The Chamber” which is released as a single and you can totally feel why. It’s catchy and has a whole lot of feel good in it.
Then the tempo slows down a bit going a bit more towards a bluesy edge and he brings in some more instruments like a saxophone and trumpet which makes the album a bit more deeper. When “She’s a Beast” is played we start with some acoustic guitar, giving you a hint of what could have been an Aerosmith ballad sung by Lenny.
The album closes with the warm “Ooo Baby Baby” which does not really come with a whole lot more than that. A calm closure to a diverse album. Lenny shows himself from different sides, having these catchy songs that will do great as singles but others who will bring a warm and cozy atmosphere to any live performance. “Strut” is simply a lovely album.
