Shores Of Null is a project assembled by members of Zippo, The Orange Man Theory, Noumeno, Mens Phrenetica, Il Grande Scisma D’Oriente. The band makes Melodic Black combined with Doom. This year their debut album comes out. “Quiescence” is released now.
Great Italian Doom formations we have found already in bands like The Foreshadowing and Novembre for example and with Shores of Null there is another one to add to that list, regardless the fact that the doom is mainly an influence that comes back in their sound, having the faster tempo’s to set their name. “Quiescence” is a promising start for the guys at least. Perhaps a bit inspired by the music from the north, but yet to give an own twist to it all. Great melodies that can drag you along. Vocals that in the some of the songs remind slightly to a band like Leprous and in the lower parts put down more of an own face. What comes forward also are drums, quite present placed in the music which gives it a strong body and fits there perfectly.
The band gives you ten tracks that are full of detail, plenty to listen to and with a couple of listens the album grows on you enormously and before you know you are hooked. An album that the fans of Doom should not miss out but will hit a much larger range as fans of bands like Amorphis and Insomnium etc. should pick up straight away as well. A promising act!
