Armagedon is a Polish Metalband who is currently releasing their third album. “Death Then Nothing” was released in 2009 and made available for a wider audience since 2010. It is now “Thanatology” which sees light.
The previous release was quite a success so we are curious what to expect now. And perhaps it is not as much as a surprise as you had hoped for, but let’s say the band sticks with the sound they have started with various years ago. Good, the riffs get stronger each time and it is clear they have taken their time to look at the production critically and advance on that. The songs have a smooth balance between the vehemence and the more melodic side of them, letting them roll all over you as soon as the intro is over. No, perhaps it is not the new best thing but it has never been their intention to create that. The strength of the band is found in the way the guitars are connecting with the vocals, the whole gets that Death Metal way of catchiness in it and it clearly works for them.
“Thanatology” is an album that obviously lifts up from their previous release. You can see that they advanced and have been more critical even. A fine release!
