Robert Dahlqvist – Solo

Releasedate: 04-10-2013; Label: Despotz Records/ Cargo
By: Nina Mende

Ex-Hellacopters guitarist, Robert Dahlqvist, has decided to walk down the solo path and has released his debut album called “Solo”. Eleven tracks, all sung in Swedish. Singing with a soft voice and playing guitar this album is a very pure and quite calm album.

Most songs include acoustic guitar which causes the pure sound, on other songs Robert Dahlqvist picks up where Hellacopters left off with rock guitar and a little faster rhythms. Some electronic effects cause a certain depth in some songs like in “Det Tog En Lång Tid”. He even plays with different paces and song structures. An instrumental with guitar only is not missing either: “Sneseglaren” is a guitar only song. On “Det E Hon” the vocals are way in the background and can hardly be heard. Robert Dahlqvist is wandering through the history of rock music, using a different style in each song. “Solo” definitely does not get boring. You can tell Robert Dahlqvist has quite some experience when it comes to making music and of course with playing guitar. This album is not only a must have for all Hellacopters fan but also for all fans of good music and of amazing guitar riffs.
