In Extremo is a German medieval metal band originating from Berlin. The band’s musical style combines metal with medieval traditional songs, blending the sound of the standard rock/metal instruments with historical instruments (such as bagpipes, harp, hurdy-gurdy and shawm).
Versions of well-known traditional/medieval ballads make up the main part of their repertoire, but the band has written an increasing share of original material in recent years. Their own material is written in German, whilst the traditional songs are in a variety of languages, including Gaelic, Spanish, English, Norwegian, Swedish, Icelandic, French, Estonian, Galician, Hebrew, Latin, Occitan and Old High German. On their latest album all songs are in German though. This is their eighteenth album and is called “Kunstraub”. Twelve tracks full of catchy and thriving music brought to you by In Extremo. “Kunstraub” will definitely get you going along from first to last. The music animates you to go along and keep going. The music includes medieval elements along with rock elements as well as metal influence. Next to the singer you can hear chorals in the background. The vocals are easy to understand and sing along to. “Kunstraub” includes quite some songs that will definitely get stuck in your head. So go check out In Extremo’s new album. “Kunstraub” is out now.
