The Dillinger Escape Plan – One of Us is the Killer

Releasedate: 2013; Label: Party Smasher | BMG
By: Milla Smile

The American mathcore band The Dillinger Escape Plan released their third album “One of us is the killer” on May 17th .

There are 11 tracks on the album and the runtime is approximately 40 minutes. The band released the track “Prancer” as the first single from the album on March 12th, also released bloody and fleshy music video for the track “When I Lost My Bet” on April 23rd. Every track is mosaic of absolutely different parts. Screaming vocals run through the equipments’ anarchy. When “One of us is the killer” started the only thought was “one of the song doesn’t belong to the album”. Kind of touching song with soft voice turned into hysteria in refrain. The equipments make doom and stone atmosphere. Who really cares if “one of us dies and the killer survives”? At least, there is a really worthy track. During absolutely every track you can just hammered your head to the wall. Or just recognized some known notes. For instance, “Nothing fun” reminds you “Queen of the stone ages” or “Foo Fighter”. But such an experimental band can sound as it likes. Recommend to listen to “CH 375 268 277 ARS” as best prove of this thesis.

Dissonance haunts you. So you can make your own escape plan. Only after listening to the album.
