“Seventh Swamphony” is the seventh studio album by the Finnish melodic death metal band Kalmah. The band formed in 1998 and built their name since.
It has been three years since “12 Gauge” got out. In that album the band did some slight changes but never got rid of their beloved swamp. In this release there is obviously again some swamp to be found and the title simple tells you that this release is not completely different from what you may expect from these guys. The confidential sound of Kalmah is there with all its melodics and never ceased to have a good tempo in their either. The band got their atmospherical part right. Then, you may be surprised with some good guitar solos which tops up the feeling of this release. No matter how many there are, they never get boring. Instead, after eight songs and 41 minutes you may be left with the feeling ‘Is it over already??’ and you will find the repeat button sooner than later. Kalmah grown during the years each album topping its previous and with “Seventh Swamphony” they did that again. An absolute splendid release that will not disappoint, one of your new favourite releases over this summer!
