Army Of The Universe – The Hipster Sacrifice

Releasedate: 14-05-2013; Label: Metropolis Records
By: Nina Mende

Army of the Universe is an Italian industrial dance band formed in 2008 by trance and techno producer Albert Vorne (aka Trebla) and vocalist Lord K, lead singer of Kult of the Skull God. The band has now released their second full length studio album called “The Hipster Sacrifice”. Two years passed since their last full length release.

Coming with ten songs the new album is very catchy and danceable. The rhythms and melodies easily get stuck in your head. The songs have a total duration of not even forty minutes. So quite short but worth listening over and over again for sure. The music is very distorted and electronic and the voice slightly distorted, sometimes sung clearly. You can hear the influence Chris Vrenna had when producing this album. Army Of The Universe had already worked with him on their last album “Mother Ignorance”. All songs match and create a whole picture. For one song Army Of The Universe called for support. The song “Until The End” is featuring Chibi, the singer of The Birthday Massacre. Except for that one song, all songs are by Army Of The Universe only. “The Hipster Sacrifice” is a great album by Army Of The Universe. A must have for all industrial fans.
