Finnish formation Torture Killer makes old-school Death Metal. Formed in 2002 the band has made some albums already and this year coming with their fourth full length release called: “Phobia”.
While being on the bill for the great Tuska festival, a good look at this release is simply mandatory. What is known of this band is that they are fans of Six Feet Under as the guys originally started as a cover band. Those influences are therefore obviously present at their music, but it does not hold the band back to show they are an individual band anyway. The music is typical like what you may expect, the strength of the riffs is smashing over you, right in the face. Brutal with a strong body, a simply pleasant mix that appeals to any fan of this genre for the way the guys have executed it. With style, flair and no holding back. Actually, it may be said that the band can certainly match up their heroes when it comes to creating songs and albums. Then you wonder, could these guys pass them? Perhaps they could, they are young and the skills are there. If the desire to go even further than “Phobia” is there may remain a question, but what is known is that “Phobia” is a damn good release!
