The Canadian electro band Skinny Puppy have released their new album called “Weapon”. Coming with ten tracks this album was eagerly awaited by all Skinny Puppy fans. The music somehow reminds of Tron or Daft Punk, only that Skinny Puppy added vocals to it.
The vocals sound a little creepy with the dark and strong voice. A very experimental album music-wise and vocal-wise. Edgy, mechanic and dark. The track titles seem a little odd too. The booklet contains pictures of weapons and a picture of an explosion of an atomic bomb. It also includes a quotation of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the so-called father of the atomic bomb. The booklet along with the music put you in a quite doomed mood. A quite serious and dark aftertaste Skinny Puppy delivered with this album. And so the entire concept of the album makes sense, album title and booklet show you the weapon, the track list the chaos that it left and the music the seriousness of the situation. A concept that matches the news these days. But lets not be political here. Skinny Puppy’s “Weapon” is a tough album that all you dark electro fans out there will love. So go get it now and make sure to catch Skinny Puppy live when they hit this year’s festival stages. Skinny Puppy’s new album “Weapon” is out now.
