D8 Dimension – Octocrura

Releasedate: 15-02-2013
By: Thorsten Hendriks

Founded in Livorno, Italy; D8 Dimension, was established in 2007 by bassist Leandro and guitarists Tyo Crayon and Michele. Drummer Michael joined in 2009 and the band abandons covering musical pieces to start composing their own music. In 2010 Tepe picked up the bands’ microphone, previously singer of prog-rock band “Est Morgana “.

At first the band plays many live events, fine tuning their musical skills, progressing towards a more heavy sound mixed with industrial and alternative metal influences, complemented by the raw, yet soothing voice of Tepe. In their first year in the public eye the band reached quite a few achievements, including winning the international prize of the contest “Suoni Nella Notte”, which is the ticket to the Slovenian festival 2012 Rock Otocec.
The first demo was released in 2010 after the first live dates and was called “Demo-N”. Since then the band has added some electronic elements in new songs, as well as adding a 6th member to the band. Through all 2012 D8 Dimension recorded a new album with hard sounds and has been transformed into an extremely refined and elegant self-production. D8 Dimension has released their new 7 track EP called “Octorcrura” on 15 February 2013.

Upon listening to the album, their music is very refined and very well composed. Strong guitar licks and riffs, complemented by very skilled bass playing and a extremely tight percussion together with the synthesizer samples and unique voice makes it well worth while listening to – I would not hesitate to go and see these guys live.
Their lyrics are very descriptive of life events, both in the happy and depressive spectrum, and take you on a journey through your own life events. The first 3 tracks ‘VROCK’, ‘Inferno’ and ‘Industrial’ remind me of the music by “Disturbed”. Fourth track ‘Octocrura’ is a just over a minute instrumental interlude. The next 2 songs ‘Poisened Hamster’ and ‘Gunmouth’ are slightly different than before the interlude but still incredible use of all their skills make it sound awesome. The last track S.O.M.E. is an odd one: after 4.37minutes we are treated to 30seconds of silence whereupon the song continues with guitar and synthesizer adlib (presumably on a loop). They are now embarking on getting their name and music across the masses and hopefully some more exposure.

I wish D8 Dimension a lot of success in what seems could be a very prosperous music career. Sign them up!
