Releasedate: 2012
By: Sabine van Gameren
Polish Melodic Death Metal formation Scylla is quite a young band. Formed only in 2011 the guys have started working on their debut album which recently got released. “Pestilence, War, Famine and Death” is out now.
So this is the band’s debut, good to mention cause you would not really get that out of the product. Obviously the band has a good sense of what they want to do. They present a couple of compositions that are built very well. Surprising elements, great guitar riffs are surprising you again and again. Although it has a melodic edge it never lacks on vehemence and brutality. The band has found a good balance, drums come out nicely and the vocals remain from being dominating leaving space for each one in the band to showcase their skills. Should we mention a little thing for the band to progress on it might be variation. The tracks go strong throughout the track list but are alike, so bringing some track that stands out in any way into it may lengthen the pleasure of listening to this release significantly.
So this debut of the Polish’ surely made an impression, when the audience gets to know of this they will soon leave that status of ‘Poland’s well-kept metal secret.’
