Releasedate: 10-11-2012; Label: The Church Within Records
By: Sabine van Gameren
German Doom formation Seamount is active since 2007. Within a year the band came with a debut album and right now they are up for their fourth full length release: “IV: Earthmother”. It is out now.
Seamount is maybe said to be a bit Doom, but the Classic rock stamp would suit them also. Maybe a bit of Osbourne is over them, but with a little positive feeling. The feel good vibe is certainly over it and with the catchiness in these tracks it is hard not to start liking this release right away. Phil Swanson, the name behind this project, really knows how to put a stamp on to the sound and make it sound very familiar to you, yet giving it something that says: this is what Seamount is doing. That is refreshing element that not everyone is able to integrate into their sound, so surely something that makes them stand out. Phil’s voice compliments the rest of the band, a good match is made here. Simply said: “IV: Earthmother” is an album that fans of Classic Rock will adore, one that you cannot miss out of. It may sound a bit familiar, but has enough of great moments in to just keep you listening entertained throughout.
