Releasedate: 10-11-2012; Label: The Church Within Records
By: Sabine van Gameren
Lord of the Grave is coming from Switzerland and they make Stoner/Doom Metal. In 2009 the band came with their debut and right now their second album is out. It is called: “Green Vapour”.
Reading the bands history you learn that quite some things has been going on. Trouble in paradise as arguments and dreams make the line-up quite unstable, but eventually they got an album out again.
What they present is a collection of songs that are lengthy and seem to be made as in the moment. Just start playing and letting it go. No on-going fine tuning but having the raw edges still on them. The band seem to focus on bringing the groove out at the right times which gives it a bit perky attitude. Here and there you might have thought the guys could have over thought the songs a little longer but it must be said that they have their charm.
Lord of the Grave has released an album that may not be one that comes on to you as something new, but the guys have a good flow into it and the fact that it comes as raw as it is surely adds a great deal to the release.
