Vanderbuyst – Flying Dutchmen

Releasedate: 2012; Label: Ván Records
By: Milla Smile

The Dutch band “Vanderbuyst” started in 2008 and shared the stage with heavy metal and hard rock legends such as Saxon, Ozzy Osbourne, Mötley Crüe and Blue Öyster Cult since that time. This year the third album named after the legendary ghost ship “Flying Dutchman” came to the world.

So band is definitely ready to strike and announced it in the opener “Frivolous Franny”. That was a signal that “Judas Priest” times are back. The next one “Waiting In The Wings” doubled thoughts of hard and heavy. The ballad “Give me one more shot” shared touching spices that became one of interesting moment on the entire album. “The Butcher’s knife” is probably most rock’n’rollish part. “Tears won’t rinse” contains raw and sharp riffs combining with specific voice. High octaves of equipment as well vocals hit the air with “Never be clever”. “In Dutch”, track which singing in English practically, funny-punky and energetic. As “Johnny got lucky ” with one exception. The last mentioned is bluesier. Some southern riffs welcomed you in “Lecherous”. The titled track not as epic as the legendary ship. And the last mighty track “Welcome to the night” started the party itself.

Basically the album is solid work of the band. But not the only skill provides the success. Any energetic and charismatic spices could be also welcomed.
