Acidcell – Feelin’The Doom

Releasedate: 26-10-2012; Label: Echozone
By: Sabine van Gameren

Acidcell is a relatively young band from Zurich. The band formed in 2011 with the purpose of making Metal combined with Electronics. This year the band comes with their debut album called: “Feelin’The Doom”.

With a little Gothic undertone you might have a bit of reference in bands like Gothminister, 69 Eyes and even the Dutch band Danse Macabre comes up while listening to the male voices. But where those bands mentioned have a catchiness over them, a macabre edge and something that people could very easy relate to that does not always happen for these guys. “Do I Look Like A Slut” is starting the album and you may easily feel the essence of it, but after that it falls a bit quiet on this aspect. It must be said, the band shows different sides of them throughout the album, while variating a bit in style. Sometimes go for a bit darker material rather than the catchiness. Next it could be that tempo is up a little more and the band is more up for bringing you in movement.
As a debut album this release is one that may be a bit questionable, did the band show us something unique? No, not too much but on the other side it has good sides so perhaps the guys need to discover their sound a little more for a next release. Benefit of the doubt it is!
