Imicus – The Marionette

Releasedate: 29-08-2012; Label: Transcend Music
By: Sabine van Gameren

Imicus is a British band that formed in 2005. After releasing a debut full length album in 2010 the band is now releasing a single “The Marionette”.

Between the many reviews we write, we rarely pick singles to write about but when a debut album of a band makes an enormous impression it is not only fair to have a look what the guys are up to more than two years after the release of that album. Fair enough, it took some time to get into their sound while listening to their debut album, but with “The Marionette” you can expect a bit more open material. Think Katatonia for the song structures, the guitars especially but also the way they have made the mix. Vocal wise brings you to realize that this band comes with an own character but the fans of Katatonia will surely adore this formation. The guys put their deepest energy and passion into it makes it easy for you to surrender to it. The second track “Chameleons” has a similar feeling to it. Looks good for an upcoming full length, just an only trap might be that the variation within it must not get lost, but when the guys have their eyes on that, it will probably a killer release!

Miller – Vocals
Dan Baker – Guitar
Dale Chapman – Lead Guitar

Matt Tilley – Bass
