Dokken – Broken Bones

Releasedate: 21-09-2012; Label: Frontiers Records

The three decades of US band “Dokken” existence brought ten albums, “Grammy” nomination and the eleventh studio album “Broken Bones” is on its way to rock and not only audience.

Well, the 80’s gaze of love and rock’n’roll what could be better than plug your ears such emotional music. The opening track “Empire” warns about burning empire. That’s what and how any circle of civilization came to the end. The self-titled track turn all the clichés about broken hearts into broken bones as any –ships leave their traces on the wounded souls. “Waterfall” is literally equipment and back vocals’ falling. The oriental motif, hypnotizing and a bit psychedelic riffs in the track titled “Victim of the crime” makes the album different. The most hard and heavy track is “Burning tears” with all that stuff as usually described as that genre. The almost acoustic “Today” is so cosmic and touching. “Best of me” track about being not beloved one with proper music accompaniment. The most impressive refrain you can hear probably in “Fade away” track. The hunter riffs brought the last track. “We keep the memories alive// and we close our eyes tonight”.

The cheapest philosophy assumed: don’t break the hearts better break the bones! Anyway what didn’t kill you make you stronger. Warning: all the traces still in your soul, they called memories. Turn the sound on and cry. Just kidding, the album is solid eighties masterpiece. Recommend.
