Asaru – From The Chasms Of Obliveon

Releasedate: 18-05-2012; Label: Schwarzdorn Productions
By: Sabine van Gameren

Asaru is a Black Metal formation that started in 1995. It took them till 2006 to come with a first full length release but a year later the band called its quits. In 2009 there was some renewed interest in the band so founder Frank Nordmann decided to go on with a new line up. Anno 2012 a new album is released: “From The Chasms of Obliveon”.

Simple, Asaru brings that cold Black Metal but these guys have an own face. A characteristic piece of music can be found on this release. The tempo switches back and forth, some tracks being more mellow and atmospheric while others are more up for some higher tempo’s and let the vocals add some passion to it. The band adds deep clean vocals in the track “Fortapt I Dødens Favn” which is an interesting add that you did not really expect. A decent riffage is included in the band which here and there break away as well. Asaru had some troubles in finding a label for releasing their music, but based on this release it is just a shame that it did not got out earlier. Black Metal with their own attitude, clearly works out well!
