Like Comedy is the last album of The Proclaimers, the famous Scottish brothers Reid. With its 9th album, the band has nothing more to prove. So, they come back with something that wants itself musical inspired with a few sing-along songs.
Like Comedy is a jovial, light-hearted album. You can feel the pleasure they are having while singing and it’s quite communicative. Spring is the best time to release it. The trees are coming into bloom, the sun shines. We need something fresh to listen to when we sit outside on a terrace and this album is the perfect choice. Their voices are still crystal clear, high pitched. The various instruments are unfortunately more a background rhythm as a lot of passages are sung nearly a capella. Still, the ambiances are different from one song to the other and you can enjoy the drums on Whatever You Got, the guitar on the rock song The Thought Of You, or a good piano intro on Spinning Around In The Air. Dance With Me, with its piano bar style, is the slow song on the album, too slow considering the other tracks. Like Comedy is never boring as no song reaches the four minutes and the airs vary a lot. The main song and title of the album, Like Comedy, goes crescendo, from a whisper to a chorus and display the vitality and joy The Proclaimers are still able to create.
