Moonless are a Danish band, formed in 2008. The band makes a combination of stoner, doom, psychedelic and heavy 70’s rock. This year they release their debut album called: “Calling All Demons”.
Thick and filthy, like some nasty oily substance the music is slowly gliding through the machine. Raw vocals are bringing in the nasty feeling over it. The guitars are very dominant, Doomish and kept in a small lane as the band does not break out too much. A clear path has been chosen, they added a good groove to which brings a true Stoner sound coming alive. Must be said, do not count out the drums in here, they are more surprising than you would expect. Although they said their music to be catchy, it is not like you pick it up that easily. Yes the deepness sticks around the atmosphere and the feeling of the tracks are making their impression, but catchy is not the right word for it. The band’s vintage influences, 70’s rock and a clear reference to bands like Black Sabbath is often making you wonder whether this band is bringing something really unique. Not really, in the end this is a sound that has passed some times already, but Moonless has a steady quality throughout their album. It will surely find its way to the audience.
