Catamenia – The Rewritten Chapters

The Finnish band Catamenia always had a quite variable line-up, but when anno 2010 almost the complete band left (due various reasons) people feared that would be the end of them. Riku Hopeakoski however thought differently and collected new band members. With these, a new compilation album have been recorded: “The Rewritten Chapters” is out now.

In this compilation album, you will find various tracks from the band’s career. Fans of these tracks may have to get used to these new versions, in general a bit harsher than before. If that will indicate the new direction Catamenia will go to, may be a bit uncertain. After all, Catamenia is known for being changing and surprising time after time. It does have its charm, hearing songs like “Pimea Yö” (from their debut album)on yet a slightly different way. “Cavalcade“ from their 2010 album will probably hit more people as it was a more recent song, with quite clean vocals, now transformed into a more raw track, adding some more vehemence to it all.
Interesting to listen to, for the fans of this band it may give you an idea of what to expect when the new members are releasing new material.
