Hannibal is a formation and plays Industrial/Rock/Metal. The band started in 2003 and anno 2013 their album “Cyberia” comes out.
It has been quiet around this band for a while, six years of silence and then a new release sees light.
The band surely took their time for it. In “Cyberia” there are science fiction themes that are forming the red thread throughout. The band combines Power Metal/heavy Metal with Industrial and therefore you might be confronted with some oddities that make you frown, but a little touch that makes it unique is always appreciated. A quite upfront placed keyboard is often bringing the lead, making the atmosphere come out quite well. On the vocal side you get introduced to a voice that is responsible for the Heavy Metal reference in their sound. Alex Balakakis is the name behind it and he use to sing in the Heavy Metal formation Spitfire. On guitars you may not be surprised to much, they are not really breaking out to capture all attention, but simply fill up the sound. This could have been a bit more innovative perhaps, but the way they are now is not disturbing.
Overall, “Cyberia” is an album that comes with surprises. It is pleasant to listen to and when the band grows a little it may surprise us even more. Definitely one to keep your eyes on.
