We'll Go Machete – Six Plus Ten

Releasedate: 30-04-2012; Label: Stressed Sumo Records
By: Milla Smile

The band with a strange title formed in Austin, Texas. The album “Six plus ten” released in April 2012.

This 16 tracks album is a combination of 10 new tracks and 6 tracks from released a several years ago EP. Okay, let’s make it clear. There is no obvious genre of what the band does. That came from “post-rock” word. Anyway you can find the psychedelic tempo of desert rock, groove tensions and punk riffs. But all that would be perfect exist separately not in one pot named “something about rock”.
Some characteristics describing the album: hysteric but monotone voice screaming all the darkest words out and depressive heavy basses’ line. In the contrary with “Quicksand” and “Jawbox” to what the band trying to look, the younger Americans are not as impressive as oldies. In the contrary with stoners, “Fu Manchu” for instance, they are not much hallucinating.

Despite of the negative points there are some interesting tracks to be heard. “Miser” is pretty dark and groovy. Reminds the almost forgotten band “The murder city devils”. “Number 13” has not banal concept and would be perfect soundtrack for such movies as “Lock, stock and two smoking barrels”. “Good Morning Munro” is the most alternative and modern track with touching melody. You can’t refuse to listen to the album once. Fortunately, it’s only hour long.
