Crazy Lixx – Riot Avenue

Releasedate: 20-04-2012; Label: Frontiers Records
By: Milla Smile

Crazy Lixx is not as much popular band as other “kidz of the underground” and “hometown heroes” of 2000’s Swedish sleaze wave. They released the first album “Loud Minority” in 2007 after five years of band existence. There is time for the third full-length album titled “Riot Avenue”.

The eleven tracks made it clear you’re driving in the right direction to the past to the sleaze late eighties. The killer drumbeating and those raw guitar riffs in the opening track “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot”. It’s so eighties. The song should stick in your head, especially the chorus parts (“whiskeeey, tangooo”). Honestly, I even hesitate to mention the key tracks. There are all loud, nasty and dizzy! The powerful guitar solos is the main part of the entire album. For instance, “Downtown” with bluesy and cheesy chords accompanied by touching chorus (again). The speedy track “In the night”. And probably my personal favorite is “Sweet, Bad & Beautiful”. How many epithets could be sing about women and there is no chance that the words gonna be changed. Yeah, bad, blonde, beautiful. The amazing solo brings all those shiny clubs and tough emotions pictured in the music videos more than twenty years ago.

The album doesn’t need any words to explain, just would to be heard. Sleazy recommend!
