And the German band is back again with its new album! The pleasure with Eisregen, is to get a new one every year and that this prolixity doesn’t affect at all the quality of their production. After the fantastic Schlangensonne in 2010, here they are with “Rostrot”. Is it still necessary to present one of the most innovative band of the dark metal scene? All I will say is that after more than ten years of activity, they are to music what Cannibal Holocaust is to cinema.

The atmosphere of this album is resolutely gothic. Not the gothic like in “gothic metal”. I’m talking about the gothic of the 19th, dark, romantic, as much as can be a gloomy cemetery, withered roses and hell’s fire. Poe made stories of madmen, Goethe of rats. For Eisregen has, above all, this capacity of making the filthy looks beautiful and appealing. It’s the pleasure to enjoy a wonderful keyboard play, which could invite to a romantic dance, then realize that the text is about necrophilia! The aggressiveness in Blutkehle’s voice is rough, sour but you can perfectly hear the lyrics. Eisregen, it’s horror stories. Now, you can concentrate on the music as well and the refined compositions which make every title unique.
We start with the “solution”, the ultimate. In his cold lucidity, this album confronts us to the death from the start. Then comes Schakal : Ode An Die Streubombe. It sounds like Sceptic Flesh ! Feel the hate crawling under your skin ! Now, put on warm clothes and follow Blutkehle in Madenreich. Who could resist the calls of these guitars anyway ? We will just see Hell. But it’s not the end, there is hope, even on the slaughter field, after a hard fight. The drums are rolling. Home, here we come! I leave you the suspense for the following songs but I can just counsel you to check the lyrics. The atmosphere has changed. This is tragicomic horror show! The psychopaths are out tonight. It ends with Fahles Ross. This song is far too sad to laugh. Finally, the apotheosis. Rostrot. Dream with this sweet-and-sour, insane love, on the wicked harmony of the keyboard and the guitars!
So close your eyes my dear, feel the cold of the night and the worms under your feet. It’s a dance with the Devil Eisregen offers you tonight.
