Rêx Mündi – IHVH

Releasedate: 16-09-2011; Label: Debemur Morti
By: Sabine van Gameren

Rêx Mündi is a French formation making Extreme Black Metal. In the year of 2005 they released a demo. Anno 2011 the band found themselves a label and they re-release this album.

Good, the start of this release may not be this glorious. You get the feeling it is an old release with a not so great production, but judging fast is something you better not do when it comes to this record. It surely has to grow on you and the charm of what is on there need its time to reach you. The cold atmosphere they bring comes from the quite dominating vocals on this release. Yet, the guitars have an interesting part of it too. Some of these riffs really make you want to put some extra attention to it and that makes you appreciate it a little more. The band plays around with the tempo, which keeps you with them until the end of the album. So for a new release the production might get upgraded a little, but you simply can’t deny there is some potential in it. Simply keep listening, the record needs to grow on you and keep your eyes open for what to expect from them in the future.
