Nachtblut is a band from Germany making Melodic Dark Metal. The band released their debut in 2007 and in 2009 “Antik” followed. By now they are found by a label and therefor “Antik” will be distributed wider.
“Antik” is an album that split you up. The heart breaking melody that opens the album, the sad atmosphere over it and then the raw German lyrics over it. It appears all a bit spooky. Soon the band takes the songs a bit up-tempo but the icy atmosphere over it remains. Yet, it musically never gets extremely violence. Typical Gothic atmosphere. For the more Metal people it may be a bit off a stumble over the grunt, obviously not coming straight as it is live, but therefor it is quite easy to understand what the words are. The guitars are quite heavy but do not expect to hear the most innovative riffs here, that is not what they are here for. A bit more behind are the drums also quite standard, but no need for those to be upfront either.
“Antik” is definitely a remarkable release that will find ground in the gothic scene more than it will in the Metal scene. It is an interesting release that refreshes a bit for being far from standard.
