Emme Ya is a project from Columbia. The music goes into an experimental, ambient side. “Beyond The Secret Flame” was the last release from this project but now the band returns with a split release with the Italian Luna Dopa.
Luna Dope started around 2007 and seem to focus on the darkness in this release. The part of Luna Dopa starts of quite calm but doom and darkness are right around the corner. Creepy sounds, some dark voices come in and the Luna Dopa gets stronger every second. When the tension fades away a bit you are still overwhelmed with what you have heard before.
Emma Ya brings the music in a different way. It’s more cold and minimalistic at first which keeps you listening on a more intense level. Luna Dopa´s music had faster changes of mood than Emma Ya, but Emma Ya does it in a more sneaky way, you better pay attention on what is happening before you miss out on it. Also, Emma Ya brings tracks that stand apart from each other while Luna Dopa´s tracks seem more like a connecting story.
Interesting to see this split of these projects which fit together quite well but yet have their differences.
