Crone is a ambient solo project by Jeff Caxide, known for his work in Isis, but also toured with Metalcore formations. “Endless Midnight” is the first release under the name of Crone.
Jeff seems quite versatile, from Metalcore to this ambient material that works on such a different way to the listeners ear. “Endless Midnight” is more the sort of music that calms you down and gives you hope rather than the aggression and adrenaline that comes with the Metalcore so you can be guaranteed to see a whole different side of him. Though, with Isis you might come closer to what this release has to offer you. The drone in here does not come too deep and leaves it all quite bright, a relaxing sound. There are several moments that you feel yourself going to a highlight but maybe the whole is not too much with ups and downs in tension, rather having a longer lasting experience with the feeling that comes from the start, and progress with that instead of putting you on an emotional rollercoaster. For some this may occur a bit too flat, while others may feel quite content with it in this way. Certainly a release that will get people talking and one that is worth to listen to.
