Marduk is a black metal band from Norrköping, Sweden. The band formed in 1990 and released their first record in 1991. Anno 2011 the band comes with a new EP called “Iron Dawn”.
Marduk comes with another release and some expectations. The cover may have given you the impression already, but it is just like you are right in the middle of a war while listening “Iron Dawn”. Blessed with the fact never having experienced this in real life, it may be impressing on what you hear, the chaos the noises and then Marduk comes in with their music. Hard to find the beauty of it within all the sound effects, a bit of an overkill. The EP is a bit of different from the familiar Marduk experience anyway. It has three songs which may refer to different material from the guys. One of the less impressive songs is the last one “Prochorovka – Blood And Sunflowers”. It seemed to be one that fits in line but is not one that stands out much on its own.
Three songs that have given a mixed feeling about the band’s upcoming full length. It’s hard to say which side they will go although Marduk doesn’t go too far from itself anyway. Let’s hope that at least these sound effects are not overkilling in it, because that was one of the points that killed this EP for us.
