Beyond The Dream – In The Heart of Nothing

Beyond the Dream is a band from Finland. The guys make Melodic Gothic/Black metal and are currently up for their third full length release called: “In The Heart Of Nothing”.

Only about a year ago we spoke with the guys on a sunny day in Helsinki’s graveyard park, talking about their previous release and the plans they had for a future release. (read it) The guys told us this new one would be more rock and roll but obviously that was not too serious as the album we got has quite a lot of what “While The World Sleeps” had as well. The melodic parts from keys are quite upfront and seem to make the songs flow easily. But the guys have a little dirty side as well and they brought the riffs more forward at some parts as well which, in company of some overly present bass, gives a playful result. Also, the band give new drummer Rolf Pilve a strong place in the sound, making it clear that he is there as well.
Overall the band has some songs that you may need to listen a couple of times to get the essence out of it. There is always a lot going on and the guys do not always take the most predictable choices as theirs. “In The Heart of Nothing” is a logical follow up of “While The World Sleeps” and they have really highlighted what their sound is about. After this album you can truly say you know how the face of Beyond The Dream looks like and it is absolutely not ‘just a face in the crowd’.
