Mastiphal is a band from Poland that originally started in 1992. Only one full length release was done before the band decided to split up in 1998. Though, in 2009 they came back together and they are now back with their new full length: “Parvzya”.
The band makes Black Metal with a strong connection to the past, it is clear that the band have remained with their first active period when it comes to the sound. This not does not mean the quality got stuck there too though. Listen carefully to the guitars and you’ll find some interesting parts here, which you may not have expected after reading the first sentences on this release. Here and there the band brings some extra to it as well by taking some more raw approach than what has been chosen earlier. Though this album has its parts, overall it is not the most original album, maybe because it has this production 90’s feeling over it, maybe because it could have been more expanded a bit. It must be in them, but the album is only partly convincing. Perhaps in a future release the band will give their face even more structure.
