Explosions In The Sky is a post rock band from Texas. They formed in 1999 and have released six albums so far. “Take Care, Take Care, Take Care” is their latest one.
After four years from their last release, Explosions In The Sky are back with their intense post rock. The muscles that the band showed in their music and that characterized it best have now left their place to a wider use of brain instead. Indeed, the Texans came out with a sort of concept album where the emotional power of it stands in the amalgam. The whole album is to be taken as a whole, where the single songs risk to loose a part of their qualities if taken out of the rest. However, the listening doesn’t lack of any fury, like the one to be found in “Postcard From 1952” or “Human Qualities”, that might refresh old fans’ memory a bit.
“Take Care, Take Care, Take Care” is not that case of a step forward for post rock, but it does sign a turning point for Explosions In The Sky career. Post rock is one of those genres which has very much to do with the feeling that the listener gets by it and this album is just about that. Now it’s up to the fans to judge whether this new step of the band is to be considered positive or not.
