Young Legionnaire – Crisis Works

Releasedate: 06-05-2011; Label: Wichita / Cooperative Music / Universal
By: Nina Mende

Young Legionnaire are a British post-hardcore band made up of Paul Mullen (guitarist and singer for The Automatic and formerly yourcodenameis:milo), Gordon Moakes (bassist for Bloc Party), and drummer Dean Pearson.

Their debut album called “Crisis Works” is released now. Twelve tracks are to be found on this brilliant album. The booklet is interesting to look at: No fancy artwork, instead some almost retro looking pictures as well as the credits. From the outside the booklet seems all dark because the cover is held in black and red, but on the inside it is pretty colorful. The music on the album is about the same: At the first listen it sounds quite psychedelic and strange, but when you take a closer look at it, there is so much more to find. Catchy funky music comes at you and makes you want to move along. Young Legionnaire created a very interesting album with “Crisis Works”. There is a lot to discover, so take your time with this brilliant debut album of Young Legionnaire. Twelve songs with interesting lyrics and arrangements. This will keep your mind busy for a while. But stay tuned, I am sure there will be more of them soon.
