By: Sabine van Gameren
Radio Dead Ones started in Berlin, Germany in 2003 when the four friends decided the punk rock scene needed a kickstart. From early on, they started playing in Berlin and surrounding cities and they soon gained a reputation for being an outrageous live band, blowing audiences away wherever they played. Their first full length album came out in 2008 and anno 2011 the band comes with “AAA” which is their second full length release.
Radio Dead Ones are a band that sticks with the punk as it came in its highlighting years. Not too much modernizing, just stick with the raw punk and that results in an album that does not have a polished, clean production but has its filth here and there. The speed is in it, most songs are rather short and the album goes by faster than you realize. The vocals have a raw edge and the guitars come quite basic and fast in the music. You can clearly hear the band must bring spectacular live shows, but if you wonder if this is an album you will listen to a lot when the band is not around to bring their music live, the question is probably no. There is a lot to win on the production side, which is the main factor that “AAA” is the best invitation to their recorded work. It does make you want to see their show, which indicates that the music is working out somehow.
