Asking Alexandria are an English metal core band from York, North Yorkshire. Founded in 2008 when Ben Bruce (lead guitar) contacted his old companions upon returning to England after residing in Dubai. Anno 2011 the band releases “Reckless and Relentless”, which is the band’s second full length release.
The band brings a collection of songs with some great fury within. The vocals are not the most stereotypical, but not completely new either. Whatever said, the vocals are not annoying me after a while which is a positive thing. The grunts included may help with that as well, a step away from the commercial side that this genre often brings. It may be a bridge between the commercial emo-screamo-core that is out all over and to some core with more power and aggression. The album shares both of these parts and therefore it may be that some songs are totally matching up to your likes while the next song you rather want to skip. It makes that the album is not that steady, it really has two sides. If the band knows to balance it all a bit better, the outcome would be more consistent and give the new listeners something to hold on to. Now, after listening twelve song, you are still in debate and don’t know whether you would like it or not.
