Goodbye Jersey – Entertain Me!

Releasedate: 15-04-2011; Label: Long Beach Records Europe / Broken Silence
By: Nina Mende

These guys are bringing back the 90s: Goodbye Jersey are five lads from Hamburg, Germany that found together in January 2009. They decided to lock themselves up in a fifteen-square- meter basement room without windows to celebrate punk rock the way it has to be: fast, angry dirty and sweaty. Goodbye Jersey call their genuine musical style melodic bugle-punk: a mixture of fast hitting melodic skate punk and offbeat songs, as well as hardcore tunes. But it is not only their musical style that is diverse. Being into politics, they directly address society’s grievance. On the other hand they sing about the positive aspects of life that makes life worth living.

After recording an EP this is their first full length album called “Entertain Me!”. Ska punk at its finest comes blasting right at you when pressing play on this new release by Goodbye Jersey and stays for all fifteen tracks. Fast and catchy tunes get you moving along, make every muscle in you twitch. The trumpet completes the sound of Goodbye Jersey on their debut album. A great album by a great band that can definitely stand strong next to bands like Streetlight Manifesto, Less Than Jake, Reel Big Fish and others. I surely hope to catch them at some festivals and get the chance to see this amazing album being performed live.
