Two tragic deaths within a year. Not the easiest start for a new finnish goth/post-punk band Silent Scream.
The story goes back in 1996 when Antti Lautala and Henry Waldén formed a band called Varjo (a shadow in English).
This new album by Silent Scream comes with ten tracks full of gothic rock decorated with some electro elements. Morbid and sad vocals combined with a gloomy sound create a dark and almost evil atmosphere. The main focus seems to be on the bass guitar since this sound is outstanding throughout almost the entire album. The songs are very thriving. “In The Cinema” is like a horror movie and gets very scary and evil throughout the middle towards the end of the album. Sneaking up on you and giving you shivers. Silent Scream creates a strong atmosphere, perfectly captured on the cover of the album. The cover might also remind of some Rorschach tests. “In The Cinema” is definitely an interesting album by Silent Scream. Make sure to check it out.
