Noah And The Whale is an English rock band formed in 2006. “Last Night On Earth” is their latest release.
If the spring atmosphere is coming down on you and all you want is something to cheer your days up, maybe this album is not the one that suits your purpose best. “Last Day On Earth” is more of an autumn album: it faces up to reality with a rather melancholic manner. Actually, it all evolves into the concept of the title itself. All the songs are there as a soundtrack for one’s last day of life, with the melancholy as well as the adventure that such a day could bring. This kind of adventure feeling is hearable throughout the whole listening although it sometimes slips into some lessening of inspiration. However, the songs do make a voice for themselves as you can find a lot of variation in them: “L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N” is an example of one that might easily stick into your head while some others more melancholic are present as well like “Paradise Stars” and “Old Joy”.
With their third album, Noah And The Whale have definitely come up with an album that fairly shows their capabilities. Maybe this is not one of the albums you would pick to brighten your last night on earth, but still it could easily be the perfect one to smooth your days a bit.
