Havok is an American Thrash band that formed in 2004. Two years ago they released their debut album and anno 2011 their second full length “Time Is Up” got released.
‘Haven’t I heard this before’, was my first thought on this album. Havok being far from original is something you get from the first second, but yet the band knows how to make music that keeps you listening. This mainly because the guys have some excellent skills. This combined with a decent dose of aggression makes any Havok experience a good one. What breaks the aggression a bit are the melodic guitar pieces in several songs, one a bit more on the foreground than the other. Though that makes it attractive for a wider audience. See Havok having a crowd of old school Thrash fans, those who have been there when it was relevant and on the other side some younger fans who just step into the genre. For those who look into some more original material this band is not one to listen to. A little more of Thrash on this level will do good in any collection, I just wonder how big will the world be for this band and if they will ever get the name on the same level as their heroes have gotten.
