Releasedate: 29-03-2011; Label: Roadrunner Records
By: Sabine van Gameren
Brothers Cavalera have teamed up again. In 2007 they got re-united and an album under the name of Cavalera Conspiracy they got an album out in about a year. In 2011 the guys have scheduled a second album to release: “Blunt Force Trauma”.
The guys got a bit of a different insight in what to bring under this name this time. It seems a bit more aggressive, a reference to the latest Soulfly album is clearly made. Unfortunately this is not the only point of reference as the album is quite full of songs that you somehow heard before. The lyrics, well, who expects anything fantastic come out of the hands of Cavalera lyrically should do a reality check and also this time you won’t be surprised with it.
Besides of the lyrics and the aggression there is also the lack of good songs. The compositions seemed quite easy and overall you get the impression that this is a project that has been done quickly in between things that have more relevance for the guys. It is a little disappointing that they bother to bring this out on a disc for the fans instead of giving it some more of their attention, because the guys have a reputation and with this release they are working hard to shatter it into pieces as far as it hasn’t been done already.
