Remember the “Young Folks” with that catchy wistle in it? Do you also remember who made that song? Well it were Peter, Bjorn & John and after that hit song everything went quite well for them. “Gimme Some” is their sixth album.
Originally they had the idea that this might turn into a punkish album, which clearly did not turn out that way. It is a typical pop rock album with catchy melodies, just as how many people got to know them. Their previous release was a bit more sober but this one seems to go back in the days where the happiness was still there and that is actually a good thing when releasing an album shortly before the summer is about to arrive. It must be said that the Punk idea is not completely ruled out. Some raw edges here and there show you an adventurous side of this trio. The songs on the album bring a warm atmosphere and when listening to the album, you immediately get inspired to see the band live, because you can imagine them organizing a cozy evening out with these songs. In case you never came further than “Young Folks”, this album basically screams for you. There is so much to enjoy with this band and “Gimme Some” is an album that shows you a diverse side of them and is worth to be in your collection.
