Pale Chalice – Afflicting the Dichotomy of Trepid Creation

Releasedate: 08-03-2011; Label: Flenser Records
By: Sabine van Gameren

Pale Chalice is a Black Metal formation hailing from USA. The band has formed in 2008 and anno 2011 their debut EP “Afflicting the Dichotomy of Trepid Creation” comes out.

The band gives a debut that sets quite a promise for when these guys are ready for the real work. Starting with screaming vocals you get set straight back to whatever you might have expected, the guys bring a full sound from the beginning. Raw edition, that’s how they come as the production may have leave you in debate if it could have sound even more aggressive when the instruments would have been more dominant, but after all the guys are all about bringing some speed into the sound and set the vocals up front to let the lyrics become a major part of their music. What may be missing in their sound is an own identity, the band does not have much that makes them unique and so come you might hear influences of other bands being a bit too obvious. For that reason the album will maybe not the most memorable one to be released at this time, but the band got the skills together and when that own identity gets shape I am convinced the band will bring some releases that captivate you for quite some time.
