Controlled Mind is a Colombian Progressive Metal band The band has been formed in 2006 and after the release of an EP in 2008 the band now comes with a full length album called: “The Symbols of a Hero”.
The Colombians are completely instrumental, no vocals attached. This gives plenty of time to showcase what prog-musicians love to show and that be their skills. The band captures you with directness, their story starts right way and perhaps in the first place you not even notice that it is instrumental only, but after the first song you forget about it cause the band fills it all up and keeps your mind with their sound. The band sets guitars upfront but yet an important bridge to the rest of the band comes from the drums. Studious as they are, they come with nine tracks of which the second part seemed a bit calmer at first, but with “Returning” and Returning part 2” they come to a climax, a conclusion and after that the band is done. They may not have brought the most renewing material, but the band got their act together quite well. The tempo remains throughout the album and they give enough variation to keep yourself interested. Worth to check out!
